Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. once said, “The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character – that is the goal of true education.”
That goal is what we strive for each and every day for every student in every school.
Today our nation is commemorating the legacy of one of the most influential social activists this country has ever known.
Dr. Martin Luther King fought tirelessly in the name of social justice, equality, and civil rights for all. Perhaps most importantly, he gave us hope – hope that everything we do to fight for the greater good is worthwhile.
The legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King remains a reminder for us of our commitment to equity and fairness for all students no matter in what zip code they reside. The world is changing quickly and the future of public education may be unclear, but we will always know this: we are stronger together.
Thank you for all the work you do everyday for our students.
